A conversation with Highlight’s Paul Davison (video)

Highlight is one of the more recent entrants into the world of location-based services. The San Francisco-based company provides a service that takes data from your social graph and marries it to your location and surfaces people that might be worth connecting with. It was one of the buzziest apps at the 2012 edition of SXSW, but since then the company has been relatively quiet.

At least until yesterday, when Highlight announced a new version that allows folks to “post thoughts or questions to the people around you.” It is like group messaging or Twitter, except constrained only to people around you. I thought the update was an appropriate time for me to share highlights of a conversation I had with Paul Davison, Highlight co-founder & CEO. I found him engaging and thoughtful.

In a wide ranging interview, we talked about Highlight, the fear of serendipity, the lessons he learned from launch and the future of location. Here is a four-part video that would perhaps give you a peek into Davison’s mind.
