Amazon posts (what else?) huge S3 storage gains

In case anyone thought the Amazon cloud was losing steam,  new company published data showing that the number of objects stored in Amazon’s S3 service soared to 905 billion in the first quarter of 2012, up from 762 billion for the previous quarter.

In its Amazon Web Services blog, the company said more than a billion objects are added to S3 storage daily either through Amazon’s S3 APIs, AWS Import/Export, the AWS Storage Gateway, several backup tools, and via Direct Connect pipes.
