AT&T next in line to get Nokia’s Lumia 925 on September 13

Nokia’s Lumia 925 became available on T-Mobile in mid-July and now rival AT&T is getting the Windows Phone handset. Pre-orders begin on August 28 with phone availability on September 13, the carrier said on Tuesday. The Lumia 925 costs $ 99.99 with a contract or zero down with equal payments of $ 21 per month through AT&T’s Next plan.

We’re not fans of the Next program but the $ 99.99 contract price is reasonable. What do you get for that?

The Lumia 925 is one of the larger Windows Phone devices on the market with a 4.5-inch display and 1280 x 768 resolution which is a  sharp 334 pixels per inch. A dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and 1GB of memory powers the phone, which is plenty of horsepower for Microsoft’s mobile operating system. Internal storage is 16 GB but you also get 7 GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage with the handset.

The 8.7 megapixel PureView camera won’t rival the much more expensive Lumia 1020, but should still take excellent photos and videos. It shares the same useful camera app as its big brother. There’s also a dual-LED flash for the camera, which has a generous f/2.0 aperture. The front facing, wide-angle 1.2 megapixel camera is good for video chats and self-images.

Like the entire Lumia line, Nokia’s software adds apps and services: Nokia Music, HERE Maps and HERE Drive+. Also included are Microsoft’s mobile Office apps. And like the premium Nokia phones, the 925 supports wireless charging using the Qi standard. All in all, it’s not a bad deal for a higher-end Lumia.
