FoundersCard gets a site refresh, adds new deals

FoundersCard, which is like a members-only club for — you got it — founders, has gone live with a spiffy new website and some new packaging for members that sign up. It’s also added a bunch of new deals to some popular retailers.

FoundersCard gives discounts to entrepreneurs who apply for somewhat exclusive membership to the club. For that, they get deals from more than 250 different merchants, most of which are travel- or technology-focused, like discounts on Virgin America flights or stays at the swanky Ace Hotel chain. They also get discounts at a number of retailers — like Apple stores — and specialty clothing shops.

But not everyone qualifies — you have to actually apply for membership and prove that you are indeed a founder. And there’s an annual fee of $ 495 that you pay to be a part of it. (GigaOM readers get a preferred rate of $ 295 is they use the code FCGIGA12 at founderscard.com/membership.)

FoundersCard just launched a flashy new website and new packaging for those who get accepted. The website was designed to put deals front and center, making them easier to navigate and take advantage of. It’s also added more social elements, including comments from different members. FoundersCard has also improved the welcome package that new members get when they sign up for their card.

In addition to a revamped website, FoundersCard has added a few new merchants, including 20 percent off John Varvatos in-store and online, 20 percent off Sole Bikes (which I might actually use), and an upcoming discount to Rag ‘n’ Bone. (FoundersCard is still figuring out the exact percentage.) And for those who travel, members also get free use of Tripit Pro.
