HTC One X for AT&T: LTE and HD screen with Android 4.0

With a new line of phones called the One, announced at Mobile World Congress, HTC is hoping to reinvigorate sales. HTC expects dozens of carriers to sell the One lineup worldwide and AT&T will be selling the HTC One X variant. This handset is similar to the One S that T-Mobile will launch in the spring, but is larger and has support for AT&T’s high-speed LTE network.

At 4.7-inches, the HTC One X is pushing the screen size limitations for many, but HTC needed room to pack all those pixels: The super LCD display is full high-def at 1280 x 720 resolution. The One X shares many other features with the One S; not surprising as HTC is trying to gain more market share with a hero device line.

The phone has an 8 megapixel rear camera sensor with f/2.0 aperture and fast focus, 1 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 chip, Universal Beats Audio — the result of a $ 300 million investment in Dr. Dre’s brand — 16 GB of internal storage and runs Android 4.0 plus HTC Sense 4.0.

Of course, the big draw for those in the proper coverage areas is support for AT&T’s LTE network, which can easily bring download speeds exceeding 20 Mbps, or faster than some home broadband connections. The phone’s battery has 1800 mAh of capacity, which on an LTE network could present some challenges, but we’ll know more when we test the One X out.
