News Alert: Big Growth for Internet Ads Through 2014

eMarketer, a New York-based research firm, estimates spending on U.S. Internet advertisements will grow 13.9 percent to $ 25.8 billion for this year.  In a news release, the research firm projected “a 10.5 percent increase in U.S. online ad spending in 2011, followed by double-digit growth every year through 2014 when spending will reach $ 40.5 billion.”

That is great news for start-ups that are counting on advertising as their main source of income. It is even better news for big boys like Google, Yahoo and Facebook.

Much of the dollars will be shifted from traditional media — print, radio and online.
