Planning to buy a new Kindle? Wait

If you’ve been thinking of buying a Kindle Touch, this isn’t the week. Amazon lists the Kindle Touch 3G as unavailable  and has the Kindle Touch WiFi with special offers shipping in 8 to 9 days (the ad-free version is completely unavailable). That suggests the possibility of new models coming soon.

Gizmodo first noticed the unavailable Kindle Touches and notes that the unloved Kindle DX is marked down to $ 269 (from $ 379) today as well.

Barnes & Noble introduced the $ 139 front-lit Nook with GlowLight in April, and though Amazon has long been believed to be working on a front-lit Kindle, it hasn’t been launched yet. Looks as though next week could be the week. Amazon is also likely to launch a 10-inch version of the Kindle Fire, so we could see a slew of Kindle product launches in coming days. (I’ve asked Amazon for comment, but don’t expect to hear back.)

Amazon launched the $ 249 Kindle Fire, Kindle Touch and $ 79 basic Kindle e-reader (which is still available on Amazon) last September.
