Each year VC Taskforce honors an individual or group in the venture capital community for distinguished work in innovation and entrepreneurship.  This year’s award pays tribute to the Draper family.

Over three generations, the Draper family has invested in hundreds of startup companies, many of which have become household names, such as Activision, Hotmail and Skype. General William Draper Jr.’s son, Bill, left his father’s firm to co-found Draper and Johnson Investment Company and later to found Sutter Hill Ventures. He also founded several companies over the years. Bill’s son, Timothy, founded Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Speakers for the event include: “Recollections of the Draper family,” by Franklin “Pitch” Johnson, Founder, Asset Management Company | Special Guest Speaker, Matt Flannery, CEO, Kiva, a Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation Organization | “Silicon Valley, venture capital and the future,” by Steve Jurvetson, managing director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson | “Fireside chat with Bill and Tim Draper,” hosted by Ellice Papp, senior VP – Investments, UBS Financial Services and VC Taskforce executive board member

The program will include music by Magnolia Jazz Band and fine wines from Twomey Cellars (member of the Silver Oak Cellars family). In addition, attendees will receive an autographed copy of Bill Draper’s book, The Startup Game.
