TechStars NYC leader David Tisch steps down

David Tisch, who helped establish the TechStars accelerator program in New York two years ago, is stepping away from his day-to-day duties as managing director. Tisch explained his new role in a blog post, saying he will be focusing on building new projects.

Tisch will remain active with TechStars as a co-founder, investor and mentor and will continue to help with the selection process. But it’s unclear who will become the new head of the New York program.

Since TechStars New York began, the program has taken in 36 companies, all but two of them are active. The startups have collectively raised more than $ 50 million in follow up funding. TechStars has been part of a big boom in accelerator and incubator programs in the city and has been arguably the most high profile. It was even featured in a Bloomberg TV series.
