YouTube Users Upload 48 Hours of Video Every Minute

YouTube’s users upload about two days worth of video per minute, the video sharing site announced on its blog Wednesday. Its users also watch more than 3 billion videos every single day. YouTube’s audience apparently broke the three billion views barrier this weekend, just in time for the site’s sixth birthday. Check out the infographic below for more details:

The amount of video shared on the site is accelerating rapidly. YouTube announced that its users were sharing some 24 hours of video per minute just 14 months ago, and YouTube’s director of product management Hunter Walk announced in November that it was seeing more than 35 hours of video shared per minute.

YouTube.com was launched to the public in May 2005, but the first video ever was uploaded on the site a few weeks earlier. It featured co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo. Check it out below:
