SkyDrive adds new SDK, too

skydrive-logoYesterday we told you about the long awaited additions to SkyDrive, including selective sync and sharing SkyDrive folders from your desktop, and how to get them, and today comes more news from the SkyDrive team, with a blog post announcing a new .Net and Windows Phone SDK for SkyDrive.  The new SDK allow .Net and Windows Phone developers to add a range of SkyDrive functionality into their applications, and expand on the capabilities that are already available to extend SkyDrive into applications.

In addition, the blog post makes note of three products that are already making use of SkyDrive in their applications: IFTTT (If This, Then That), which we wrote about previously, DocuSign (who also have a Windows 8 app available), and SoundGecko.

Just one additional note on a change coming to dev.live.com, although not for SkyDrive: with the changes coming for Messenger and Skype, there are also some important changes coming to XMPP and MSP for Messenger:

Important update from Microsoft

We recently announced that we’ll begin to encourage Messenger users to start using Skype. As a result, the Messenger developer program will end. Existing implementations that use Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) will continue to work until October 2013. Existing implementations that use MSP will continue to work until March 2014. For support for existing XMPP implementations, please visit our Forums page.
