Bing adds Foursquare integration in sidebar

FoursquareBing announced a new search experience back in May this year which bought it a new sidebar, allowing you to integrate your social networks with Bing and using knowledge from your social networks to find things easier. Only Facebook and Twitter integration were available for the sidebar at launch, with Dr. Qi Lu, President of Online Services, announcing that many more social networks including Skype, Quora, Foursquare, LinkedIn and even Google+ will be added in the future.

Recently the Bing team announced on their official blog that they have added Foursquare support to tis Bing sidebar. Below is an excerpt from the announcement:

Starting today, people in the US will begin to see tips and recommendations from foursquare in the sidebar column on the right hand side of the screen. Now when you’re planning a trip to that dream destination or a night on the town, you can find people who are knowledgeable about the place you’re searching, based on what they’ve publically shared on foursquare.

How does it work? Later this week, I’m meeting some friends at a new restaurant. To learn more, I search on Bing for “Foreign Cinema” the name of the restaurant. In addition to photos from my friends and reviews from bloggers, I now see public tips from foursquare users in the ‘People Who Know’ section in the sidebar.

However, like everything else Bing does, this feature is available in the U.S. only.
