Bing Health and Fitness Beta comes to Windows Phone 8

When Windows 8.1 was delivered last October, Microsoft released two brand new Bing Apps, Bing Health & Fitness and Bing Food & Drink, to extend already existing Bing Apps family . At the same time, Microsoft Bing AppEx team has been actively “porting” Windows 8 Bing apps to WP8.

Judging from some clues in the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK, it looks like Microsoft is preparing to ship 8.1 with the new Bing apps, but you can try out the Bing Health and Fitness app now, on your Windows Phone 8 device (We have more on WP8.1 soon). According to the Store:

The Bing Health & Fitness app helps you stay on top of health and fitness trends and provides the tools you need to support a healthy lifestyle. Designed for Windows Phone, the Health & Fitness app brings together great fitness, nutrition and health content, along with trackers, tools and other features. Set your daily calorie goal, record what you eat and get nutritional information for over 300,000 foods. Choose from hundreds of workouts and exercises with step-by-step instructions, photos and video.

This version of Bing Health & Fitness has a feature called GPS Tracker, which can be used to “record your time, distance, pace and calories burned while you walk, run, bike and do other activities”. Unsurprisingly, you can sync the data to Windows 8 through Microsoft HealthVault service.
