Nokia planning two more Windows Phone 8 devices – the Nokia “Zeal” and “Flame”

NokiaNokia revealed to the world the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 Windows Phone 8 devices last Wednesday September 5, two devices that are said to the successor to the previous Lumia 900 and 800. Both devices appeared to target the high-end smartphone market, much like their predecessors, but for Nokia this was obviously not the only market they’re after.

According to reports from The Verge, Nokia is planning two more Windows Phone 8 devices that are targeting the mid- and low-end markets – the Nokia “Zeal” and Nokia “Flame”. Below are some of the specifications of the two devices revealed by The Verge:

Nokia “Zeal”
  • 4.3” display
  • 1.0GHz dual-core processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • 8GB storage
  • microSD card support
  • “Zune-like” unibody design
  • Windows Phone 8 OS
  • Available early 2013
Nokia “Flame”
  • 4.0” display
  • 1.0GHz dual-core processor
  • 512MB RAM

Pricing for both devices are expected to be comparable to the Nokia Lumia 610 and 710. We’ve also previously heard that Nokia is also planning the Nokia “Glory”, which is said to be a device targeting the lowest-end of the market running Windows Phone 7.8 with just a 800MHz process and 256MB of RAM. Both the Nokia “Zeal” and Nokia “Flame”, as well as the Nokia “Glory”, are expected to be announced later in the year or early 2013, although specific timing has not yet been revealed.

With five Lumia Windows Phone devices lining up for launch, Nokia is aiming to regain market share in all ends of the market. Will Nokia have what it takes to succeed? We certainly hope so!
