Office Web Apps completes worldwide rollout

18 new countries in South America are now able to access Office Web Apps, completing the worldwide rollout of the online versions of popular Microsoft Office applications that began nine months ago.

The Office Web Apps are now live in 18 new countries in Central and South America, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

A blog post on the Office Web Apps blog details a few of the numbers for the now 190 countries that can access Office Web apps through Hotmail:  2 billion total internet users; 750 million of them using Microsoft Office, and 30 million using Office Web Apps.

Office Web Apps brings Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote to the web browser, via a Hotmail/Live ID account.  Apps can be uploaded from Office on the desktop, or edited and shared from within the browser.  Here’s a quick refresher on Office Web Apps, from Office.com/webapps:
