Skype Video Messaging Preview now available in the Windows 8 Store

This has been a big week for Skype announcements.  On Monday, Microsoft announced a beta of Skype for Outlook.com, coming first to the UK, then to the US and Germany “in the coming weeks”, and the rest of the world after that.  Then on Tuesday, the Skype Garage blog announced a Preview version of Skype Video Messaging, available for the Skype desktop client in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Now today, that same Video Messaging Preview is available in the Windows 8 Store, available for installation on your Windows 8 “Metro” or Windows RT device:

According to a new post on the Skype Garage blog, the new features will let you:

…record and send a video message to friends and family on Skype anytime, even when they’re unavailable; they can watch your Video Message next time they’re on Skype.

You can get the latest version of Skype for Windows 8 from the Windows Store.  Or, if you’re still on Windows 7 or prefer Skype on the Windows 8 desktop, you can download and install Skype for Windows (works on 7 and/or 8 desktop).
