Twitter might make a come back to Windows Live?

Back in June 2010, Microsoft discontinued support for the Twitter connected service in Windows Live due to policy changes made on Twitter’s end, and was unable to reach an agreement with Twitter since then to make it available again. However, earlier this year during Mobile World Congress, Microsoft announced that Twitter will be integrated into Windows Phone’s People hub as part of its "Mango" update. We popped the question – what about Twitter on Windows Live?

A recent post from MobileTechWorld seems to hint that Twitter might make a come back to Windows Live. Ken Dacey, Senior Test Lead at Microsoft, recently made a tweet indicating that he is testing the Twitter functionality on Windows Phone. The tweet had since been deleted, but as always, things never fully disappear from the internet:

Twitter via Windows Live

Interestingly, as shown above, Twitter shows that the tweet was made from "Windows Phone(viaWindowsLive)INT", indicating that the Windows Live might also be getting some of the Twitter integration as well. In fact, a Twitter account called @TwitWL had been created since February 2011 solely for the purpose of testing tweets coming from Windows Phone/Windows Live. Unfortunately, clicking on the "Windows Phone(viaWindowsLive)INT" simply takes you back to the Windows Phone homepage.

While there are over 75 connected services available on Windows Live, but without Twitter, one of the largest social networking sites, it kind of defeats the purpose of having everything "all in one place". We certainly look forward to Twitter coming back to Windows Live, do you?
