Josh Silverman, who until recently was the CEO of Skype, is joining venture firm Greylock Partners as an executive-in-residence. At Skype, Silverman was recently replaced by Cisco executive Tony Bates, just ahead of the Internet telephony company’s initial public offering.
Silverman, who in the past was CEO and co-founder of Evite, is going to work with Greylock and look at future opportunities. Silverman ended up at Skype after spending a long stretch of time at eBay’s Shopping.com and is widely viewed as bringing in stability to Skype after a tumultuous phase that followed the exit of the two Skype co-founders.
