Hotel Tonight, the app that lets you book last minute hotel rooms for discounted rates, is currently raising a $ 9.1 million funding round, according to documents filed to the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday.
The company has raised $ 8.65 million in the round so far, the documents show, with $ 446,000 of the offering remaining to be sold. Hotel Tonight previously raised around $ 3 million in venture capital earlier this year, so this new batch of funding will bring its total outside investment to around $ 12 million.
Hotel Tonight launched in December 2010 and has been growing steadily since; it now offers deals in more than 25 cities. But the company is not without competition — Priceline recently debuted its own day-of hotel booking feature — so the money will certainly come in handy as it works to keep its edge in the increasingly hot travel app space.
We’ve reached out to Hotel Tonight for comment on the funding but have yet to hear back; we’ll update this post with any new information we receive.
