Developers love Platforms as a Service. The big question is whether big companies are ready to embrace platform as a service for real deployment is a lingering debate, however. Apprenda, a .NET-specific PaaS has long maintained that companies wanting to extend the lifespan of existing applications into the cloud are already using its service to do so. These older applications are typically .NET- or Java-based.
To beef up its PaaS-is-fit-for-the-enterprise message, the Clifton Park, N.Y. company is naming Wayne Boomer as its new VP of operations and finance. Boomer was CFO and SVP of finance for On2 Technologies, a developer of video codec technology acquired by Google three years ago. Boomer was also CFO of Inmedius, a software company acquired by Boeing last year and was finance and operations director of MapInfo’s UK operations.
Boomer will report to Apprenda CEO Sinclair Schuller.
