Electric car maker Tesla will start shipping its first Model S cars this Friday (June 22), which kicks off a new chapter for the Silicon Valley company. The Model S is Tesla’s first electric sedan (and it’s second car), and it’s got a starting price around $ 50,000, about half of its first high-end sportcar the Roadster. The Model S is also one of the first electric cars to be shipped that is designed from the ground up, instead of the more traditional route of taking an existing standard car and outfitting it with batteries.
