Microsoft China today updated its Surface website with detailed pricing info of Surface Pro in China mainland market. As I reported over at LiveSino, Microsoft sells two special Surface Pro versions, with one Surface Pro 128GB normal version in China.
These two special versions are Surface China 64GB and 128GB. The 64GB costs ¥6588/$ 1060, while the 128GB is at ¥7388/$ 1190 which is same to the 128GB normal version in China. From the official store, they also provides some awesome Surface back skins which is at $ 13 each.
We learn that Surface China can only be purchased in China mainland. The differences between Surface China and Surface Pro normal are listed below:
Surface China | Surface Pro | |
OS | Windows 8 | Windows 8 Pro |
New Office | Office Home & Student 2013 full version | 1-month trial of Office 365 |
Multilingual | Simplified Chinese only | All Windows 8 languages |

(To be clear, Microsoft uses the name Surface China under Surface Pro category on its website. )
Last month, Microsoft expands Surface RT retail presence in China. At today’s Surface Pro China launch event, they announced new retailers, bringing the total number of Surface sales channels in China from 7 to 10. (Credits to Mapei for the photo)
According to the data from Microsoft China store on Tmall, over 2071 Surface Pros have been sold on Tmall, and Surface Pro 128GB was sold out in an hour while the store keeps replenishing supplies. Currently, we don’t know sales numbers from other retailers. (via LiveSino)
