At 9:30am Eastern Daylight time, Microsoft is set to take the wraps off its long awaited Windows Phone 7, and we’ll be getting up early to follow along as Steve Ballmer and Ralph de la Vega of AT&T announce the new phones at an event in New York City. Later in the day TMobile is expected to join in the fun with a set of announcements of their own, so it should be a fun day.
While most of us still won’t be able to get their hands on one of the new phones just yet (although October 21st in Europe and November 8th in the US are widely expected to be the dates when WP7 will be available), we still expect to hear some significant news around the details of Microsoft’s most ambitious project in years, and one that may help to make or break it in the consumer space.
And that’s part of the fun, really, that no one is quite sure just how these new phones will be accepted in the marketplace. What do you think? Will Windows Phone 7 “bury” the iPhone and Android, or will it fail like Kin? We just posted a new poll in our sidebar, let us know what you think is going to happen!
We’ll have lots more on Windows Phone 7 in the coming days, stay tuned!
