LinkedIn Adds Button to Flag Posts That Seem Like AI Slop
*LinkedIn will let users report content they suspect was made by AI as the company tries to cut down on low-quality generated posts.*
The change
LinkedIn introduced a reporting option that labels posts as “Seems like AI slop.” The feature gives users a direct way to flag material they believe was produced entirely by artificial intelligence. It forms part of a wider set of updates aimed at lowering the amount of such content on the professional network.
Prior reporting
Earlier coverage from 404 Media documented the scale of the issue. An analysis by AI detector Pangram found that 41 percent of longform posts on the platform were marked as fully AI-generated. LinkedIn chief product officer Hari Srinivasan stated that “AI slop is a top priority for all of us.”
Microsoft connection
LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, which has directed tens of billions of dollars toward AI development. One report noted the company’s recent $41 billion spend in the same period it rolled out the new flag. The timing highlights an internal tension between investment in generative tools and efforts to police their output on company properties.
Why it matters
The button shifts some responsibility for quality control onto the user base rather than relying solely on automated filters. For professionals who use LinkedIn to find work or share expertise, the change may reduce the volume of repetitive or low-value posts that currently crowd feeds. Whether the option produces a measurable drop in AI content remains to be seen, but it gives the platform a concrete mechanism it previously lacked.
