OpenAI Ships GPT-5.6 Models in Restricted Preview

OpenAI states that Sol carries its strongest safety measures so far. The protections target high-risk activity, sensitive cyber queries, and misuse. The company says the model was tested against real-world attacks and hardened accordingly. Details on how far those safeguards extend remain limited because the preview is closed.

Thurrott reported that the narrow preview follows an explicit request from the US government.
