Samsung Electronics and LG Uplus Sign MOU to Research ISAC for 6G
*Samsung Electronics and LG Uplus agreed on May 27 to jointly develop integrated sensing and communication technology intended for future 6G networks.*
Samsung Electronics and LG Uplus signed a memorandum of understanding at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul. The agreement centers on Integrated Sensing and Communication, or ISAC, technology. Samsung Research, the advanced R&D unit inside Samsung’s Device eXperience Division, will direct the technical work.
The two companies stated the goal is to secure core technologies required for the 6G era. No further timelines, milestones, or technical targets were disclosed in the announcement.
Why it matters
The move adds one more industry pairing to the still-nascent 6G research phase. Operators and equipment makers are exploring ISAC because it combines data transmission with environmental sensing in the same radio signal. Whether this particular collaboration produces usable standards or remains an early-stage study will depend on work that has not yet begun.
