US Eases Limits on Anthropic Mythos 5 for Trusted Partners

Anthropic had previously faced limits on sharing or licensing Mythos 5 because of its performance level. Those limits are now narrowed to cover only partners the government has cleared.

The move reduces friction for organizations already inside the government’s trust perimeter. Companies that receive the designation can integrate Mythos 5 into internal tools or products without additional export-control steps.

For everyone else the model remains off-limits. The distinction creates a two-tier system in which a small set of vetted users gains access while the rest of the market does not.

This is a narrow administrative adjustment rather than a reversal of export policy. It signals that regulators are willing to carve out exceptions for individual models once they have reviewed them, but the underlying framework stays in place.
